Tym razem niezwykle prężna dziewięcioosobowa grupa pod opieką pani Mileny Kaliszak i Weroniki Kurosz bierze udział w projekcie e-Twinning pt. Rights of prisioners in EU. Do projektu zaprosiła nas szkoła z Grecji. Jednym z elementów przedsięwzięcia było spotkanie on-line szkół z obydwu krajów z panią prokurator Thomaïs Emmanouilidou, delegatką Unii Europejskiej. Poza tym polska i grecka młodzież prowadzi badania, rozmowy i próbuje znaleźć odpowiedź na trudne pytania, m.in.. Czy powinniśmy znać przeszłość kryminalną naszych sąsiadów bądź współpracowników lub jak sprawić, by ludzie do więzień nie wracali? Projekt zakończy się prezentacją wykonaną wspólnie przez oba licea.

On 16th of may a very interesying zoom meeting took place about Rights of prisioners in EU. The meeting began with introductions, where a group of 9 Polish students from the 38 bilingual High School in Poznan greeted the European delegated prosecutor, Ms. Emmanouilidou, who works for the European Public Prosecutor's Office in Luxembourg. The latter explained her role as a public prosecutor and mentioned her frequent collaborations with individuals from Poland, highlighting the strong relationship between Greece and Poland.

Prisoner Rights and Rehabilitation Challenges

Ms Emmanouilidou, a former supervisor prosecutor, discussed the human rights and dignity of prisoners, emphasizing that imprisonment should not end a person's life but offer a chance for a new beginning. She highlighted the challenges Greece faces with overcrowded prisons and compared these issues with Poland, noting differences in living conditions, security, and rehabilitation programs. She also stressed the importance of treating prisoners with respect and providing opportunities for education and reintegration, urging the next generation to choose a justice system that balances responsibility and hope. The Polish team asked about the European Parliament's role in supporting prisoner reintegration, to which Ms. Emmanouilidou replied that the work begins inside prisons by ensuring rights are respected and continues post-release through EU programs focused on various areas such as drug rehabilitation and youth support.
