On October 17th 2022, students of the medical classes in our school participated in a lecture led by Dr Matthew Ibbs. The lecture was about oncology and diagnostics. Dr Ibbs was kind enough to tell us about himself and his work in the department of tumour pathology at Wielkopolskie Centrum Onkologii. Firsty, we learnt about the health care system in Poland. Then, Dr Ibbs told us about the different types of cancer and the most common cancer types in our country, conveying this all through images of symptoms or ill organs. Finally, Dr Matthew Ibbs described to us the different areas of specialisation within the field of medicine, such as pathology, histopathology, morphology etc.
